The Lab , in its tenth year, is a film workshop with a three-fold mission: To improve performance and communication skills between actors, directors and screenwriters. To encourage and inspire creative artists and foster synergy among them in the market. To generate flow toward film production in Philadelphia. After over ten years of monthly events, is now being held only occasionally as a special event. We will be posting any LAB notices on our MLC News page! Good News! Six films, all written and shot locally, have emerged from the Lab workshop process: Eugene Martin’s "Edge City" Margie Strosser’s "Moonjuice" Ken Klein’s "Breath" Jack Phelan’s "Shutterbugs" Jeremy Bowman’s "Shock the Monkey" Ernie Vecchione’s "Tell Me Everything" Edge City won the top prize at the 1998 Hamptons Film Festival, a rave from Carrie Rickey of the Inquirer and enjoyed a run at the Ritz Five in Philadelphia. Three Lab films were featured in the Philadelphia Festival of World Cinema in 1998 and 1999: Moonjuice, Edge City and Breath. Breath was also shown at the Atlantic City Film Festival in 1999. More Lab projects are currently in serious pre-production, including Steve Jimenez’s The Bridge.
